Old-World Cafe Music

Just what is Old-World Cafe Music, anyway?  We define it as music that's evocative of an era where friends and families would gather regularly at their favorite cafe to sit under the stars and eat, dance, and talk through the night.  The music we play is drawn from many cultures that share this tradition - French musettes, waltzes & tangos from Central & South America, folk songs from Italy and Russia, country dances and jigs from the British Isles, and Zweifachers from Germany.

Get there EARLY for a good seat

If you are coming to Esselon to hear us tonight, Thursday Feb. 26, you might want to come early for a good seat.  We had great publicity this month in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.   I mean,  in the Greenfield Recorder, the Amherst Bulletin, and the Daily Hampshire Gazette.

A Recent Article In the Recorder...

Richie Davis just published an article in the Recorder on us.  Check it out...

"Parlez-moi d’amour.

Ah, la dolce vita, la vita d’amore!

Even if you can’t understand what they’re saying, there’s something about the way the French and the Italians do zat zing that can be oh, so romantic. With a couple of glasses of Merlot or a bottle of Moltepulciano at your candle-lit table to share with that special someone ... that’s amore!"

The Big Blizzard

3rd String Trio has plans for the blizzard coming our way.   We're going to learn some new Italian tunes to add to our repertoire.  Aldo's sister, Marcelle (the one who designed our CD cover) found two old books full of Italian songs.  While we're not doing the other things we SHOULD be doing (like shoveling snow), we'll be playing through those tunes.  Maybe at our next Esselon gig, we'll let you hear a few of them.  Oh, and when we say we are going to look through the music, I mean Karen and Aldo.  Unfortunately, Peter has to be in St. Croix with a gig this week.   In 80 degree weather.  With no snow.  And no shoveling.

We're pleased to announce...

...the birth of our new CD, Sous le Ciel de Paris.  We had a great time recording it in Aldo's basement studio and we were fortunate to have Dan Richardson work his magic as our recording engineer.  We're having our CD Release Party on Wednesday, September 17th at Esselon Cafe in Hadley, MA from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Get there early for the best seats (you know - the ones closest to Karen).  We'll have plenty of CDs and t-shirts for sale.

Let's Get Started...

We're just back from NYC and the fabulous Esselon Cafe in Hadley, MA.  Now we're getting ready to start recording for our first CD.  We'll keep you up to date with progress right here.
